Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Mjau, in September 2019 we were finally able to stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom. We were really excited to be able to stay in the same building that Boma Flavors of Africa is in. Their breakfast buffet is positively delicious!

Our wonderfully amazing room with a Savannah view at Disney's Animal Lodge.

Mjau, we had booked a room with a standard view and were pleasantly surprised when Disney upgraded us to a Savannah view room. It was such an amazing experience and we can not imagine staying at the resort again without the Savannah view. Mjau, it was wonderful to be able to see the animals from the balcony. We mostly saw giraffes and zebras. Mjauhihi, once we woke in the middle of the night and saw a Zebra peeing outside our window.

Mjau, our view from our room!

We really enjoy the subtle Lion King details!
Hakuna Matata: a relaxing message while you are meditating on the toilet!

We really enjoy the decorations and the design of the room. They have some Lion King designs and also some African art. Mjau, you can find African artwork displayed around the resort. Mjau, our favourites are probably the African masks. The lobby at Animal Kingdom Lodge is also wonderful. There are plenty of comfortable sofas, artwork and our absolute favourite, a fireplace.

The artwork in the room is amazing!

Some African bowls on the wall, too bad we do not have a kitchen in the room.

Simba!

The dining is amazing at Animal Kingdom Lodge and it is worth staying here just for the easy access to all the delicious food. The breakfast buffet at Animal Kingdom Lodge is a must visit for us when we visit Walt Disney World. It is one of the few breakfast buffets that does not just serve waffles and omelettes. The African-Spiced Corn Beef Hash is one of our favourite dishes there. We also really enjoy the ham and turkey at the carving station. Mjau, the spicy mustard that is served with the meat is so delicious. We always get several servings of plantains. So delicious! They also serve fresh fruits and strawberries so you can get your days worth of fruits. Fruit is so expensive at Walt Disney World. They also serve several sweet breakfast treats at the buffet. They have muffins, donuts, banana bread and delicious sticky buns. The highlight of the desserts is the bread pudding.

Enjoying pudding, plantains and fresh fruits and berries.

You can also find Jiko - The cooking place at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a table service restaurant and is really classy and unique. They have really delicious food although it is a bit expensive. The elk meat we had was cooked perfect and the dessert was delicious. The interior design is also wonderful at Jiko's. Just look at the ceiling and admire the birds! We were really lucky to get seated by the window, such an amazing view. We always prefer to be seated by a window or behind a column.

Delicious food and a wonderful view!

The Kilimanjaro Dessert is really delicious.

The Mara is a quick service dining option at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have really delicious savoury lunch options. They also have really delicious, and in our opinion underrated, sweet snacks. Mjau, they have several different brownies. Our favourite is the Okapi Brownie. Mjau, we really love the hazelnut crunch on the brownie! You are also able to get the Zebra Domes from The Mara. We recommend buying some zebra domes and going to one of the lounges at the resort for a drink. Mjau, a perfect evening. The zebra domes pairs really well with the Zebratini.

The interior of The Mara is also really nice, especially during Christmas!

The Tamarind Barbecue Pork Sandwich is really delicious.

Delicious Okapi brownie!

Enjoying some Zebratinis!

They also have more dining options at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village. You can easily walk there from Animal Kingdom Lodge or if you are lazy, take the bus. During breakfast they have counter service or some grab and go snack options. The Shahi Tukra French Toast you can get for breakfast is really delicious. We love french toast for breakfast and this is a really unique and adventurous french toast. We definitely recommend going here for breakfast if you do not feel up for a breakfast buffet at Boma's. During lunch and dinner Sanaa switches over to table service. Mjau, the bread service is really delicious here, you get several interesting accompaniments with different breads. We always like food that you can mix and match. They also have the Sanaa Lounge for a more relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious French Toast at Sanaa.

There is always something to see or do at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We love taking relaxing strolls around the resort watching the animals. The swimming pool area is also really nice, although we prefer when they have several smaller pools so you are able to get some privacy.

We recommend staying here for days when you want to focus on eating at the resorts and visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom. It does not take too long to get to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot with bus. However getting to Magic Kingdom takes a really long time and we recommend leaving Magic Kingdom for when you are staying at a different resort.

They also have a fireplace outside!

Enjoying a sunny day at the resort!

Disney's BoardWalk Inn

Mjau, we were finally able to stay at Disney's BoardWalk Inn for the first time back in May 2019. Disney's BoardWalk is one of our favourite areas and staying at Disney's BoardWalk Inn has been on our list for a long time. Mjau, we were not disappointed. Our stay there was positively amazing!

Our room at Disney's BoardWalk Inn!

Disney's BoardWalk Inn is themed after the early 1900s Atlantic City and Ocean City. Some theming is also reminiscent of Coney Island. We really like the theme of this hotel. The exterior is so wonderful and colourful. We really enjoy that it fells like you are in a small town more than you are at just one hotel.

Mjau, looking forward to listening to Disney music while we sleep!

The bathroom looks nice.

We really enjoy the sofa in the room. Mjau, we can make our butlers sleep there if they snore!

Mjau, admiring the towel art made by the resort cast members.

We really liked the room we stayed in. The room felt a little bit bigger than usual. We do not know if this is due to the room being on the ground floor. We loved all the details in the room. The lamp was wonderful and we really enjoyed the designs carved in the chair. Mjau, we also like that they still have carpet flooring. We think it fits to the theme and adds warmth to the room. They have slowly started to remove carpet flooring from the Disney resorts, something we are not always happy about. Mjau, sometimes the carpet fits the theme!

Mjau, we really like this painting in the room!

Look at the wonderful carving in the chair!

What a lovely Minnie lamp!

We usually do not prefer to stay on the ground floor, and we usually request a room on the upper floor. However we really enjoyed our lovely room on the ground floor. Instead of a balcony we had a small terrace. There were also enough vegetation so that we felt we had some privacy. Mjau, the only complaint is that there were no walls or plants on the terrace separating us from other guests. Mjau it could be awkward to sit on the terrace at the same time as your neighbour. Especially if you are as shy as us! However we really enjoyed that you could walk directly from the terrace to the pool area without walking through the hallway. Mjau, our butler mentioned this would not be possible if they had walls on the terrace. Mjau! It is Disney! They would find a way! Mjau, what an ignorant butler.

Enjoying the terrace!

Enjoying a sunny day on our terrace!

Mjau, Grandpa exploring the pool by our room.

Grandpa on a walk around the resort. You can see the Swan and Dolphin Resort in the background. There is also the bar shaped like a carousel.

The resort has several swimming pools. They have smaller pools, like the one close to our room. The main pool is Luna Park Pool. Mjau, we prefer the smaller and more quiet pools. The Luna Park Pool is themed after an amusement park, the pool bar is a carousel and the slide is a wooden roller coaster. Mjau, it is a nice theme, however we find the clown head at the pool to be extremely creepy!

We enjoy the architecture of Disney's Boardwalk!

The location is one of the best parts of the resort. Mjau, Epcot and Hollywood Studios are within walking distance. You can also take the bus to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, however we find that to be completely idiotic. We would rather walk in the rain than sit around in the bus for such a short distance. Mjau, only for lazy people! There is also a boat that goes between Epcot, the resorts at Crescent Lake and Epcot. We can recommend taking the boat for the experience if the boat is right at the dock when you want to go to or from the parks. If you would have to wait for the boat for longer than five minutes, we recommend that you just start walking and enjoy the lovely view.

Since BoardWalk Inn is in Disney's BoardWalk there are several shops, entertainment and delicious eateries around.

Mjau, we always visit the Wyland Galleries of Florida. We love the Disney art they have on display, and it is especially enjoyable when it is hot outside and you need to cool down.

Enjoying a wonderful date at Abracadabar at Disney's BoardWalk.

There are also several nighlife entertainment: the Atlantic Dance Hall where you can dance the night away if you are over 21. They also have Jellyrolls where you can listen to duelling pianos. Mjau, we have never visited either of these establishments as we enjoy to just sit and relax with our cocktails. Mjau, we could consider visiting these if they would play Disney music. We prefer visiting AbracadaBar at the BoardWalk for a drink instead. There you can enjoy the warm Florida evening and the wonderful view of Crescent Lake. You can always walk to Epcot and try delicious drinks from around the world or go over to Hollywood Studios to one of their lounges. We recommend The Brown Derby Lounge.

Mjau, you can easily walk to the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

Across the lake you have Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. You can easily walk there to visit one of their lounges or restaurants. We love the banana bread, Mickey s'mores brownies and other delicious snacks you can get at the Market at Ale & Compass at Disney's Yacht Club Resort.

Enjoying a delicious fancy dinner at Flying Fish!

The BoardWalk Inn also has delicious options for snacks. You can find really delicious savoury and sweet snacks at the BoardWalk Bakery. Mjau, they also sell pizza slices, ice cream and more along the BoardWalk. There are also several restaurants that offer great food. The Flying Fish offers really delicious food and cocktails, however we find them to be a bit overpriced, mjau. If they have a festival going on at Epcot, we suggest going there and try delicious and interesting meals rather than sitting down at a restaurant.

Mjau, we absolutely recommend staying at the BoardWalk Inn if you can afford it. You are within walking distance of two parks. You will also be able to do resort hopping by foot. This is really special as you are able to visit three Disney Resorts and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. Mjau,, the only other opportunities to do resort hopping by foot is between Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, as well as between the Port Orleans Resorts.

Disney Cruise Line: 7-Night Northern Europe Cruise from Dover, England

Mjau, we just found out that our Transatlantic Cruise with Disney Cruise Line was suspended due to the Corona virus. Mjau, so sad! We decided now would be the perfect time to write about our previous cruise and relive happier times.

Mjau, Captain Hook-Si is ready for adventure!

Mjau, our cruise was quite a while ago and we forgot to write a journal. We can not perfectly recall everything in a chronological order. No bother, we prefer to look at the photos more anyway, mjau.

Goodbye, Dover!

In September 2019 we sailed away on Disney Magic from Dover. The first day was a Day at Sea. Probably our favorite since we can just enjoy being in the Disney Bubble. Mjau, our first port of call was in Copenhagen, Denmark. We liked Copenhagen although we were a bit unlucky with the weather. It was raining quite a lot. Mjau, and you also had to take a bus to get to the city. Mjau, the bus was free and arranged by Disney so it was safe to ride. Mjau, we would have preferred to just walk out of the ship and walk around freely.

Mjau, a romantic stroll in Copenhagen!

The weather could have been better in Copenhagen!

In Copenhagen we visited Lego Stores and of course the Disney Store. Since we have been to Copenhagen before, it was more fun to head back to the ship earlier and enjoy our time there. Mjau, it is so nice to stay on the ship while the others are ashore. Mjau the ship is almost empty! As it was September and a bit cold and rainy we did not spend too much time on the deck sunbathing. Mjau, instead we went often to the Cabanas to eat or do arts and crafts at Promenade Lounge. So much fun!

Mjau, such a nice view of Oslo from the ship!

Mjau, on our way to the city centre in Oslo. Such a nice walk!

Disney Legos as souvenirs! We got so excited the photo is a bit blurry.

Mjau, our next port of call was Oslo, Norway. Mjau, we preferred Oslo over Copenhagen. Mjau, we liked that we could walk to the city from our ship without public transport. Mjau, there were nice shops with delicious pastries. We would have tried more of them but since we knew we could just eat on the ship, we did not feel like buying too many treats. We bought some Disney Legos as a souvenir, we also found several interesting Disney comic books, however most of them were in Norwegian.

Stavanger! Grey skies but a wonderful town.

The third port of call was Stavanger, Norway. We were much more interested in exploring the smaller destinations in Europe than the big cities. Mjau, it was such a nice little town. We liked the small shops and walking along the narrow streets, looking at the colourful buildings. We would have definitely enjoyed Stavanger more if the weather was better. Mjau, the sun was out but we were also blessed with several showers of rain. We also found some wonderful floaties from Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

We really like the colourful houses and shops. Mjau, we wish all streets looked like this.
Mjau, pink and purple houses!

Colourful shopping street!

We love this wall! Purrfect for Instagram!
Look at this friendly troll!

On our way back to our home: Disney Magic!

Mjau, Siamese Cat Sisters in Bergen!

Mjau, our fourth port of call was Bergen, Norway. Mjau, this was probably our favourite destination. It was really good weather and we had fun walking around the Old Town and visiting the old shops. Mjau, we even took the Fløibanen up to Mount Fløyen. If we had more time it would have been fun to have our butlers hike around the mountain. Mjau, we even went to a café and tried the famous Skolebrød we always see at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe at Epcot. Scrumptious!
Bergen was followed by a Day at Sea. Mjau, our last full day. It is always so sad to leave the ship.

Tyskebryggen in Bergen!

A nice looking church. Praise Jesus!

We love the greenery in Bergen. So many pretty flowers, and us too, mjau!

Such a wonderful view from Mount Fløyen. You can even see Disney Magic!

Skolebrød does not look like much, but is is wonderfully delicious!

Disney Cruise Line has rotational dining. This means you will get to eat dinner at all three restaurants during your cruise. Mjau the restaurants are: Animator's Palate, Rapunzel's Royal Table and Lumiere's. It is difficult to choose our favourite. Mjau, we really like the design of  Rapunzel's Royal Table, although Rapunzel's birthday party can get a bit noisy. Animator's Palate is also nice and fun when you get to see your drawing in the show. Lumiere's is probably the most classy of them all and not as loud. Mjau, we somehow forgot to take pictures of Lumiere's. However we have plenty of pictures from Animator's Palate and Rapunzel's Royal Table for you all to enjoy!

Animator's Palate.

We really like the details. Look at the roof!

Mjau, we like the plate design. The dinner is delicious!

Yummy, delicious dessert!

We think Rapunzel's Royal Table had our favourite interior design. We really like the lanterns and all the details. Mjau, it can be a bit dark, however we enjoy it more as it makes the atmosphere more cozy. We also feel less shy when it is dark than when there is bright artificial lights.

Rapunzel's Royal Table. We love the lanterns, or floating lights as Rapunzel calls them.

We love the attention to detail! What a wonderful menu!

The breadbasket is wonderful. We wish they were for sale!

Delicious angel hair pasta!

Delicious salmon!

Yummy, more delicious food at Rapunzel's!

The most important part of the meal: Dessert!

Mjau, we wonder how long it takes them to slice all the raspberries and blueberries!?

Our butler started to feel a bit fat so she requested some berries for dessert!

We always eat breakfast and lunch at Cabanas. Mjau, we always look forward to when they serve pumpkin pie and banana bread french toast at Cabanas! Cabanas is buffet style so it is really difficult for our butlers to control themselves.

Delicious dessert and fruit salad at Cabanas!

Mjau, more fruit and berries and dessert!

Tasting a little bit of everything at the buffet!

Mjau, the long awaited pumpkin pie!

Mjau, the entertainment on the Disney Cruise Line ships is always top-notch. In the evenings they have Broadway style theatre shows or different variety shows. During this cruise we were able to enjoy Tangled, Twice Charmed, Once Upon a Song and Dreams. We always enjoy the Disney musicals and shows. Mjau, we seldom enjoy the variety shows. During this cruise they had two french juggler brothers, which were acceptable and Junk, which we did not even bother to watch. The name speaks for itself.

Walt Disney Theatre, where you can enjoy musicals and more!

Here they also have several trivia and other events!
Listening to live music and dancing the night away at Promenade Lounge.

Disney Magic even has its own cinema: Buena Vista Theatre. There they play recently released Disney and Pixar movies throughout the day. Mjau, a great money saving tip we have, is if there are several new Disney movies we want to watch, we do not go to the cinema and instead watch them during our Disney Cruise! During this cruise we were able to watch Toy Story 4, The Lion King (2019) and Disneynature's Penguins.
There is always something to do and see on Disney Magic. Mjau, they have arts and crafts and different trivia's every day. They also have live bands if that is something you prefer.

Too cold to sunbathe, mjau!

What we really like about Disney Cruise Line is that they have adult only events and areas. Mjau, this is perfect if you want to enjoy making crafts and parttake in a trivia without noisy children around. As we said earlier, it was a bit too cold out to enjoy the sundeck. However we were able to visit Cove Cafe, an adult only lounge, several times. Mjau, they make such delicious drinks. Our favourite was the Mocca Experience.

The delicious Mocca Experience, you even get chocolates!

Something else we really enjoy with Disney Cruise Line is the interaction with the Disney Characters. Mjau, the characters roam more freely and you do not always have to stay in line to meet them. Mjau, we know the perfect ambush place! This is perfect as we get a little bit too shy to stand in line and greet characters, and then there is also the added risk of our butlers getting forced to be in the picture with us. Mjau, we do not want to ruin perfect photos with their faces! Mjau, we were also really lucky to meet a Bunny travelling with her Human parents from South Korea. Mjau, it is always fun to see other plushies enjoying Disney! It also make us a little less shy!

Captain Hook-Si met Captain Hook!

Hello Goofy!

Mjau, we just met Minnie Mouse!

During the cruise we also spent a lot of time in our lovely cabin. Mjau, this time we did not have a magical porthole. Mjau, at least Mr Potato Head left us alone during our cruise! We usually watch some Disney movies on demand or play our favourite board game: The Hugo Express. Such an exciting game! The have changed the toiletries so you can no longer take home the shampoo bottles. Mjau, it is a bit unfortunate. However we really appreciate the initiative to reduce plastic waste. Mjau, and we have saved our empty Mickey shampoo bottles from the resorts, so we are able to fill them easily with the pumps.

Mjau, welcome to our humble abode!

Aunties investigating the new toiletries!

As always our Disney Cruise was positively amazing. Mjau, we always recommend Disney cruises over any other cruise. We absolutely love being in the Disney Bubble while on the cruise. The food is always scrumptious and the entertainment is amazing. We love that they play Disney music in the hallways and we usually make our butlers walk up and down the stairs so we get to enjoy the magical music!

Mjau, hopefully we will be able to enjoy a Disney Cruise again soon!

Hopefully we will get to be with Disney soon!

Tokyo Disney Resort 2023 May

Our butler had never visited Tokyo Disneyland before so we decided to drag our butler out of their cave and generously treat them to a week ...
