Disney's Art of Animation Resort

We stayed in Art of Animation Resort on our second week. Art of Animation is also the first Resort we ever stayed in at Walt Disney World. Then we stayed at the Lion King family room and now we stayed at The Little Mermaid standard room.

We like the Art of Animation Resort because it is so Disney themed. The resort is split in four themes: Cars, Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King.

One of our favourite things about Art of Animation is The Landscape of Flavors food court. The Surf n Surf burger is so delicious. The dining area can be quite crowded and loud so our butlers usually take our food up to our room. Mjau, they always have to hurry so the food doesn't get cold!

Pretty Under the Sea themed room!
The Little Mermaid Standard Room is pretty small, especially since we stayed at Grand Floridian the previous week. So small towels, mjau... The bathroom was designed as Ariel's Grotto, so we were temped to jump in the tub and sing Part of Your World! But we didn't as we did not want anyone to call us Flotsam and Jetsam... Our butlers can sometimes be so mean!

Ariel's Grotto Bathroom
The Lion King Family Room is really big and we preferred it over the Little Mermaid theme. The Little Mermaid room was also a bit dark... But maybe that was because we stayed in the Ursula building, mau! The Lion King room had so many fun and bright colours! The family room had one queen size bed in a bedroom with private bathroom. There was also a double size sleeper sofa in the living room that we used. We didn't use the double size table bed in the dining area... The table bed seemed comfortable and had a nice painting of Simba on a hammock, but using the table bed could get confusing if you are sharing the room with cannibals, mau!

The bedroom in the Lion King Family Suite. Mau the towl was shaped as Mickey!
The entire resort is filled with fun Disney sculptures and designs. At the Lion King building you have a playarea that is a replica of the Elephant Graveyard, really scary in the dark! There is also a sculpture of the Hakuna Matata scene where Pumba, Timon and Simba are walking on a log. You can also find other characters in the area. Mjau, we actually had Scar right outside our window!

The Little Mermaid area has three big sculptures of Ariel, Triton and Ursula. Each sculpture is in front of a building, so you can easily remember in which one your room is in. There was also a replica of Ariel's sculpture of Eric. Our butlers immediately climbed on top of the sculpture and wanted their picture taken... So embarrassing, mau!

Statue of Prince Eric
There are three pools at the resort, The Big Blue Pool, Cozy Cone Pool and Flippin' Fins Pool. The Big Blue is the biggest and has underwater speakers that play Disney songs. The Big Blue pool is actually the biggest in any Walt Disney World resort! The pool is Finding Nemo themed and right by the main building and dining area so it is usually really busy and loud.
Flippin' Fins is by Little Mermaid area and is small and more quite. Cozy Cone is by Cars so we never went there. Our butlers carried us through the Cars area once but we prefer the Lion King area. The Cars area has a desert look to it, which is fitting, but we prefer the lush Lion King Hakuna Matata jungle.

Magic Mirror on the Wall, who is the cutest of them all!

One of the downsides of the resort is that it is so far away from the theme parks and the only transportation is by bus. Other resorts that are in the Disney Springs Resort Area, like the Port Orleans Resorts have a boat transportation too. Sometimes we went to Disney Springs just so we could get the boat ride back to the resort when we stayed at Port Orleans.

Tokyo Disney Resort 2023 May

Our butler had never visited Tokyo Disneyland before so we decided to drag our butler out of their cave and generously treat them to a week ...
