Mjau, celebrating Christmas at Hong Kong Disneyland! |
Mjau, last Christmas we finally got to celebrate Christmas at Hong Kong Disneyland! Before our visit to Hong Kong Disneyland we went to Shanghai Disneyland and got to buy some Christmas presents from over there. We stayed at the amazing Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. It is such a nice hotel, we got free Mickey Christmas Cookies every day! We had our Christmas Lunch at Walt's Café at the resort. Mjau, we even went to Walt's Café for afternoon tea on our first day. We absolutely love Hong Kong Disneyland and are so happy to finally get to spend Christmas there! Mjau, we like that Hong Kong Disneyland is on the smaller side. You have time to go on all the rides, watch shows and eat snacks without having to rush things.
We got these lovely Christmas Cookies for free! |
Mjau, this year they had a Frozen themed Christmas celebration. Mjau, we would have preferred the old fashioned theme they have had previous years. Mjau it was still a lot of fun. Mjau, we especially enjoyed the Christmastime ball by the castle! We have lost count how many times we watched the show! They also still had the We Love Mickey! party in celebration of his 90th anniversary. It was a nice party, although not very festive, mjau!
Waiting for the We Love Mickey! party to begin. |
Mjau, waiting for the Christmastime ball to commence! |
Mjau, so excited for the parade to begin! |
Mjau, they were still doing construction on the castle, so there was no firework show. Mjau, we actually prefer parades and such, so we were not saddened by this. Mjau, their nighttime parade was positively wonderful! Our visits to Hong Kong Disneyland always feel so relaxed. Mjau, we really like that they open later and close a bit earlier than what we are used to from the parks in the US. Mjau, we can sleep in, enjoy a relaxing breakfast and enjoy a stroll in the morning sun. Without feeling like we are missing anything in the park! We can also enjoy the hotel in the evenings for a change. A real vacation, mjau!
The early closing times leaves us room for romantic evening strolls in the resort garden! |
Mjau, admiring the artwork at the resort! |
Fun to play around in the labyrinth in the evenings! |
Mjau, we did a lot of resort hopping during our Hong Kong Disneyland vacation. We love all three resorts over there! They all have a solid theme and good location and food. So you can not go wrong no matter which hotel you stay at. Mjau this is different at for example Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World where the experience changes drastically depending on the resort you stay at. Mjau, you can definitely tell that some resorts have lower quality. We are looking at you Disney's All-Star Resorts!
Enjoying a delicious breakfast at Disney Explorers Lodge! |
Mjau, and later on enjoying a dessert! Mjau a Mickey Tiramisu! |
Mjau, delicious and so fun to eat! |
We mostly just walked around the resorts sampling delicious snacks. We were positively impressed by the cakes and chocolates at Disney Explorers Lodge. You could even look at the busy little workers making the chocolates through a window. Mjau, so many perfect wedding cake contenders! They even have a cozy lounging area where you can enjoy chocolates. Mjau, the only thing missing is some alcoholic beverages and it would be absolutely perfect! That is the one thing that is missing from Hong Kong Disneyland Resort: some relaxing lounges where you can enjoy a cocktail!
Mjau, a perfect location for a relaxing lounge! |
Mjau, look at the delicious chocolates! |
Mjau, we even found Donald Duck's closet at Disney Explorers Lodge! |
We also really like Disney's Hollywood Hotel. Mjau, we have always enjoyed the classy Art Deco and old Hollywood theme. Mjau, unfortunately the counter service dining was closed when we visited so we could not sample their delicious snacks. On the bright side we got to take a walk around the dining area and appreciate all the meticulous Disney details. Mjau, we are talking about the movie posters! Positively amazing! They even had a poster of a movie produced by the Tiki birds. We imagine not many Hong Kong Disneyland Regulars are familiar with them as there is no Enchanted Tiki Room in the park. Mjau, it is a detail visitors from Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland and Walt Disney World can appreciate!
Mjau, a movie produced by the Tiki birds! Mjau, we wish we could watch it one day... |
Mjau, playing around with the vintage cars at Disney's Hollywood Hotel! |
Mjau, the view is positively wonderful! |
Mjau, celebrating Christmas at Hong Kong Disneyland was simply amazing! We recommend it to all plushies. Remind your butlers and humans that it is actually cheaper to fly to Hong Kong and spend Christmas there than the other Disney Resorts. Mjau, and you barely have any crowds!
Mjau, what a wonderful view from Walt's Café! Soon our Christmas Lunch will begin! |
One of the most memorable moments this trip was our Christmas Lunch at Walt's Café. We had an amazing view of the ocean from our table, and we were also next to a Christmas tree! Our butlers enjoyed that they could sit with their backs to the other guests and just look out the window. We were also lucky to get the same waiter as during the afternoon tea. Mjau, he spoke to us in Donald Duck's voice, so much fun!
Delicious seafood and regular salads and interesting dips and sauces! |
More delicious appetisers! |
Mjau, some bread, crackers and cheese! |
Delicious desserts! |
Mjau, the lunch was a semi-buffet. We chose one main course from the menu, however the appetisers and desserts were buffet style. Mjau, this was probably our first time experiencing a semi-buffet and we were really impressed. The seafood and salads at the buffet tasted fresh and delicious. Definitely quality over quantity. Mjau, the desserts were also good, however not on the same level as the appetisers. Mjau, they were really mediocre compared to the appetisers at the buffet and the other desserts we have had at Hong Kong Disneyland. The dessert that stood out was the Winnie the Pooh dessert with the delicious crumble on top. Mjau, there were also lots of delicious fruits at the dessert buffet. Mjau, why do fruits taste so much better in Asia?! For the main course we ordered the turkey. Mjau, it was definitely inspired by the thanksgiving turkey, with cranberry sauce and delicious stuffing. However the main course was not that impressive. Mjau, the highlight was definitely the appetisers.
Mjau, enjoying some delicious appetisers! |
Mjau, the main course is served! |
Mjau, delicious desserts at the semi-buffet! |
Mjau, we did not have a Christmas Tree in our hotel room this Christmas. Luckily we had our Christmas Stockings to hang so Santa Claus could find us and give us our well-deserved gifts! We did not have many hooks in our room for the stockings, mjau, so you might want to pack your own rope if you have many stockings. Luckily Grandpa was clever enough to use our butler's bathrobe stache!
Grandpa hanging up our Christmas Stockings. |
Mjau, waiting patiently for our stockings and gifts! |
Mjau, sometimes you have to be creative and use what is available in the room: bathrobes! |
We were hoping to also get some gifts in our stockings from the hotel and housekeeper, however we only got the same cookies as we have gotten every day, mjau. Still delicious cookies! Mjau, opening the presents is always the most exciting part of Christmas. Mjau, we wish we had infinite gifts that we could keep opening all Christmas! Mjau, we got a lot of Disney merchandise from Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland. Mjau, souvenirs! We also got some chocolates so we were able to pay our butlers' annual salary. Mjau, cutting it a bit close this year! The new year is just around the corner.
Mjau, we got Minnie ears, Disney magnets and Moomin mugs. |
The boys got Gelatoni and Stella Lou and other toys as well. |
DC and Siam got dinosaur masks for self protection and cute Disney picture frames. Mjau, we can hear the wedding bells. |
Aunties and babies got toys and accessories! Aunties also got special milk. |
Grandpa, Farmor and Farfar also got some special drinks to get through the holidays. |
The afternoon tea at Walt's Café is something we really recommend to all plushies. The service is really nice and helpful. Mjau, we first got seated by the entrance close to a family with noisy and barbaric children. We asked our lovely server for a more quiet table and he got us one in a more secluded area behind a column. Mjau, our favourite! As our beverage we got to choose from tea, coffee or hot chocolate. There could have been more options however we stopped listening after "hot chocolate". The hot chocolate was rich and delicious and came with a chocolate lid that slowly melted into the drink. Most of the pastries served were savoury. Mjau, they were delicious, however we would have preferred more sweet pastries. Perhaps half and half. Most of the pastries were Mickey shaped so they tasted even better and were fun to eat. Some desserts were Duffy and Winnie the Pooh themed. There was only one dish we did not like, mjau. It was the seafood dish served in the glass. All the other savoury pastries were really scrumptious. Mjau, the desserts were really delicious. Especially the pineapple tart. The pineapple tasted so fresh and rich and the flaky crust was perfect. We could have eaten more of them.
Mjau, can not wait to eat all the delicious treats! |
Delicious hot chocolates and wonderful view. |
Mjau, delicious savoury pastries. |
Mickey shaped mushroom pie and a seafood bun. |
Don't be fooled! The red Mickey pastry is savoury not sweet. Salmon mousse. The dish served in the glass was the only thing we did not like and were not able to finish, mjau. |
The sweet pastries! So delicious, especially the pineapple tart. |
We also got another festive dessert to finish our afternoon tea. |
While on the topic of food, we have to write about the delicious snacks at Hong Kong Disneyland! They have so many delicious and fun snacks in the park. We do not recollect the snacks being this good in Hong Kong Disneyland. Either they have really improved the snacks or we have somehow missed them during our previous visits. Although the snacks are good, they are still not on the same level as Shanghai Disneyland. They had several delicious savoury and sweet snacks. Our absolute favourite was the pineapple bun. The bun is really light and fluffy and the creamy filling inside is delicious. The macha part of the bun was also really delicious.
A delicious ham and cheese bun. |
A delicious pineapple bun. |
A creamy snowman! |
A delicious banana nut muffin and another serving of pineapple bun. |
Some delicious meat pastries. |
As always, the rides and entertainment at Hong Kong Disneyland were top-notch. The wait times are almost non-existent so we got to ride everything we wanted to ride several times. The Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars is one of our favourite roller coasters of all time. It is positively wonderful to be able to ride it several times with no queue. The longest queue was probably to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The lines were so short everywhere that we even decided to ride Dumbo and the Carousel, rides we usually skip. This is also the first time we got to meet the talking trash can at Hong Kong Disneyland. Such a polite fella!
Mjau, enjoying Cinderella Carousel! |
Found the sword of the rightful King! |
Mjau, met a friendly jaguar in Tarzan's Treehouse. |
The walkthrough attractions are really nice at Hong Kong Disneylnad! |
Fly, Dumbo, fly!!! |
If you are in Hong Kong Disneyland during the Christmas festivities you should take the opportunity to send affordable Christmas cards to yourselves, or family and friends. Mjau, you buy a Christmas card from the stores in the park for one dollar (profit goes to charity) and you get to send it anywhere in the world. During a previous visit we got the cards for free from the postman. One dollar is still pretty cheap if you are sending the card to for example Europe.
Writing our Christmas greetings! |
Mjau, remember to put the card in the designated Christmas mail box. |
Mjau, Hong Kong Disneyland has been one of our favourite places to celebrate Christmas, and we hope to do it again sometime!
Mjau, such a beautiful train station, and beautiful kittens! |
