We decided to book an apartment in Lahti while we figure out what to do next. They have good train and bus connections in Lahti so our butler can keep looking for a new job.
We were pleasantly surprised by the apartment. It is very nice and cozy. It is bigger than we expected and has a nice interior design.

Our new home for the next two weeks. |

A nice twin bed for our butler. We sleep on the chair. |

A small kitchen. |
It was so cold in Lahti, -15 degrees Celsius. Our butler had to brave the cold weather and walk to the store to buy a knit hat and some jeans for colder weather.
 |
It's still a proper winter in Lahti. |
Runeberg's day is on the 5th of February so we bought some peasoup from the store as it is tradition to eat pea soup. We also made a couple of visits to our favourite café in Lahti: Kahvila Kariranta. Such a wonderful café by the harbour. We had a salted caramel cheesecake, a Tupla chocolate mousse cake and a Runeberg's torte. The Runeberg's torte in Kariranta was made as a cake. A very nice rendition as you got more raspberry jam in each bite.

Delicious Runeberg's torte and Tupla cake. Also a cocoa coffee with whipped cream. |
We went to stay in Espoo for two weeks since our butler had some job interviews nearby. It was still really cold so we mostly stayed inside.
The apartment in Espoo was only about a half an hour walk from Mall of Tripla. We were able to make several visits to our favourite café in Mall of Tripla: Italia café & delicatessen. We really like the decor and the different cakes.

Another visit: Tiramisu! |
After our stay in Espoo we stayed in an apartment in Vuosaari. A really nice and cozy apartment. There was not much to do in the area. Fortunately the metro was close so we could easily get to Helsinki city centre and visit the Siamese Cat Sisters when they came to visit from Manchester.
 |
Our apartment in Vuosaari. We like the cozy corner our bed is in! |
Lidl was right across the street from our apartment so we could easily just cross the street to grab some snacks. Mjau, we found several delicious snacks from the bakery.

You can see the gooey caramel filling. |
On 8th of March there would be another lockdown in Finland so we took the opportunity to visit some cafés and restaurants in Helsinki. Mjau, the lockdown was only supposed to be for three weeks. Now we know they extended the lockdown until the 18th of April.
We made a visit to Paulig Kulma Kahvila. They have such delicious raw cakes!
 |
Coffee raw cakes and chai latte! |
We also visited the Gaijin Restaurant in Helsinki. Mjau, it is so nice to be able to go to a restaurant and just enjoy a meal like normal. We decided to just get cocktails and several appetizers.
 |
Delicious appetizers! |

Refreshing cocktails for Grandpa! |
Mostly we just went to Prisma and K-Citymarket and got delicious snacks from their bakery section.

An Ugly Cookie. The cookie does not look ugly, hopefully the name is not referring to the taste. |
 |
Delicious and soft centre. Perfect for dipping in some coffee. |
Grandpa also visited Roasberg Café at Mall of Tripla. We have not tried this café before. The chai latte was absolutely delicious. The cake was a bit stale but the taste was still delicious. We wish the cheesecake would have been more creamy. We really liked the different textures. The brownie bits on top. The sticky salted caramel and the chocolate cookie bits in the cheesecake.

After our stay around the Helsinki area we went back to Lahti for a month. It's nice to be in a familiar place again. Mjau, and we really enjoy the café Kahvila Kariranta in Lahti. Always delicious and interesting cakes. We stayed in a vintage themed apartment. We really like the 50s and 60s decor so the apartment was perfect for us.

A delicious Juustosarvi and Cinnamon bun from Kariranta. |
 |
Delicious hazelnut chocolate cake and salted caramel pecan cheesecake from Kariranta. It was for a special occasion, although we can not seem to recall what that occasion was... |
We found even more new candy bars to try. Some of them are not really new, we just have not tried them before. We tried the peanut butter and the almond editions of Snickers. Delicious, although we think we prefer the original.
 |
Some new Snickers to sample. |

Almond and Peanut Butter Snickers. |
Fazer also made a new Geisha chocolate bar. Yummy! Geisha is probably our favourite Fazer chocolate. We also found a new edition of Daim. Our weakness is coffee and this Daim was had Latte flavour. We think we prefer the original Daim though. The flavour palette was a bit too much for us. Daim already has such a strong flavour and the Latte flavour did not compliment it that well. More often than not, simple is better. Although the cappuccino flavour of Geisha is absolutely scrumptious.

Delicious new Geisha chocolate bar. |

We love the extra crunch the puffs give.
|
 |
Daim Latte. We recommend chopping the bar and using it for ice cream toppings.
