After an amazing week in Walt Disney World we headed to Charleston in South Carolina. The flight was delayed so we might as well have stayed longer at Disney! The airport was quite small and easy to navigate. We took the public transport bus route 11 to downtown. It started getting dark while we were on the bus. Mjau, it was almost like a scene from The Walking Dead! So many people were just walking slowly on the highway among the cars. We got off at a bus stop downtown along Spring Street and it was a 15 minute walk to our accommodation for our butler. Mjau, we had to stay at a hostel in Charleston! What are we, peasants? The hostel was nice with a balcony and porch where we could sit and read in the shade in the sweltering heat.

Charleston was very beautiful, colorful houses although a bit run down due to hurricanes and floods and such. We especially enjoyed their french quarter and the houses along the shore. The first day we mostly ate fruits and walked around the town until Kawinzkys opened. Mjau, they had very delicious dessert cocktails. It was nice to sit at the air conditioned bar with ice cold cocktails. We felt surprisingly safe after dark although we have heard disconcerting things about Charleston and crime after dark.

The following day we bought an all day pass for their water taxi. To our recollection it cost around 14 US dollars. We were able to see several dolphins swimming in the ocean! This was the first time we had seen dolphins in the wild so it was very exciting. We rode the water taxi to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina and walked around their resort and surrounding park. We then took the water taxi to the Fort Sumton National Monument. There was a free museum inside. We like museums with free admission. We walked some more around the town and did some window shopping. We had lunch at the Hyman's. Delicious hush puppies. The crab cake was delicious but extremely overpriced! We were surprised by how expensive Charleston is! With prices like these we might as well stay at Disney! Our butler says it is important to try and visit new places. One never knows if we find hidden gems and new favourite places, like South Lake Tahoe. Mjau, our butler only took the siamese cat boys there! In the evening we took a roundtrip with the water taxi again so we could experience the beautiful sunset. We saw some dolphins again, however not as many as in the morning. We walked around the town and bid our farewell. In the morning we would set out for new adventures once more.
