Mjau, after all the trouble with our flights we finally arrived in Singapore. We stayed at the Oxford Hotel in Singapore. We were a bit suspicious of Booking regarding our next flight so we decided to check with Vietnam Airlines and they were not able to find our flights! Mjau! We contacted Booking.com and they were not able to tell us if we had a reservation and just told us to wait for them to receive updates from the airline. We do not have time for that! Mjau! We will be on a Disney Cruise with no internet. We do not want to worry about flights or arrive at the airport with no flights again. We booked another flight with Malaysian Airlines with an overnight layover in Kuala Lumpur. Fortunately our second butler would fly from Singapore to Hong Kong on a direct flight with our sisters so we decided to go with them instead of sleeping at the airport with our incompetent butler again.
After all the drama with our flights we needed a drink so we visited the Lobby Lounge at Frasers House, a luxury collection hotel. We got ube cocktails and a second round of cocktails later. We also got a matcha opera cake that was nice but could have been better. In the evening we also walked around Chinatown. Mjau, we were disappointed by the night markets we expected to see vibrant night markets as the ones seen in the Crazy Rich Asians movie. No night market has been as satisfying as the ones in Taiwan. The next day we walked around Gardens by the Bay. Mjau they had a Jurassic Park event in the gardens. It was a ticketed event and our stingy butlers did not buy any for us! We had to peer in from the windows like thieves instead! At the food court they also had dinosaurs so we got to see them without the ticket. We did not get any snacks from the food court as they did not have anything special. We just got some banana bread and papaya from the grocery store and had a picnic by one of the lakes. Mjau, we have missed eating fruit so much! It was so expensive in Japan and South Korea.
When we got onboard the ship our cabins were not yet ready so we walked around a bit. After admiring our new home for the next few days and leaving our bags we went to the Enchanted Summer Restaurant for lunch. The salmon and pasta was delicious but the steamed buns and naan bread were quite dry. The desserts were delicious. We especially enjoyed the tropical cheesecake.
Our first dinner was at the Navigator's Club. They had a small musical show in the restaurant. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy showed up for the show and it was nice that they came up to our table. We got several videos of the characters greeting Au. She was very excited! Although we still prefer the dinner show at The Snuggly Duckling. The dinner was delicious. We got three appetizers and two desserts and skipped the main course. We had ahi tuna, duck confit and thai pumpkin shrimp soup. The desserts were an ube creme brulee and a white chocolate lemon and raspberry dessert. The ube creme brulee was the clear winner. Scrumptious!
Baymax Cinema in San Fransokyo was much better than we expected. They had four smaller cinemas instead of one big cinema so the chances to catch something interesting were higher. We saw Hopper and Zootopia 2 in the cinema. We really enjoyed Hopper, especially King Titus in caterpillar form, as he reminds us of someone mjauhihi. We also saw Atlantis on the big screen as it was the 20th anniversary. At Wayfinders Bay they also played movies. During the day it gets a bit too hot to sit there. However before or after our dinner service was the perfect time to watch a movie or the ocean. On our last day we got the cocktail of the day and watched Muppets Treasure Island before dinner.
They had several nice lounges but we found that the cocktails were not the most interesting and felt a bit expensive as they were all in US dollars. The Buccaneer Bar is really nice if you can get the table in the corner with a sea view. It even has drapes if you are in need of privacy. Tiana's Bayou Lounge was nice in the evenings when it was a bit more quiet as it is open and in a busy area. Spellbound had the same issue. We went to Tiana's when they had a violinist performing. Alania, if we recall correctly. The first set was jazz songs, mostly Frank Sinatra. The second set was love songs. Mjau, the first song was Can You Feel The Love Tonight. The other songs were contemporary love songs. We would have preferred only Disney love songs. There are so many to choose from! The cocktails at Tiana's were delicious as several of them were coffee inspired.
During one of our walks across the ship we thought we saw someone familiar: Little Pua! As we were in a crowded place and they were in a conversation we were too shy to interrupt them. We rushed up to our cabin to inform our sisters and their butler that Little Pua is on the ship and to keep their eyes open. They managed later to see them in a more quiet setting and went to talk to them. Mjau, later at the lunch buffet at Pixar Market Restaurant, Little Pua came to say hello! We got really excited and got pictures. It is so nice to meet other plushies on vacation! We still fondly remember the bunny from South Korea we met on a previous cruise. Mjau some people at the surrounding tables were giving us strange looks. Mjau, do they not understand we just met a celebrity! Later on Little Pua left us some gifts for us hanging by our cabin door. Custom made Little Pua pins! How cute! We wish we had something to gift them as well.
We went to both live shows and the Duffy and friends live show. The Remember Me show was our favourite. Wall-E and Eve were the main characters in the show, which is quite rare. It had a lovely original story and several Disney characters sang their songs. The other live show was Disney Seas the Adventure. Mjau, where are Chip and Dale?! We have not seen them at all on the cruise ship or in the show! We saw several other characters instead. It is always nice to see Hercules as he is not seen in shows all that often. One evening there was a lion king inspired firework show which was nice. Although we would have liked it better if we could have seen it from the Wayfinder's Bay, instead of having to go all the way to the top deck.
At the top deck they also have a roller coaster. As you are not allowed to bring a bag or to have open shoes/sandals only our butler was able to ride it. It is usually a queue over 75 minutes long, however our butler managed to get in line with only five people ahead of them. Apparently it had been closed due to rain earlier. Our butler could not bring their phone with them, but estimated the wait time ended up being around 20 minutes. The ride is quite short but loops the track twice to make the ride a bit longer.
We had dinner at Navigator's Club twice. The musical show was only during the first visit. We cannot remember properly what we had for dinner on the second night. It was a delicious steak with mash and vegetables. We also had dinner at Animator's Palate and Pixar Market Restaurant. Pixar Market Restaurant was much nicer than we expected so we decided to go there for the breakfast and lunch buffet instead of Enchanted Summer Restaurant during the following days. Mjau! They had churro Mickey waffles! Delicious. We put some in our napkin and kept it for a snack later. The dinner at Pixar Market Restaurant was nice as we had our backs to the window so that unruly children could not run behind us. That was a big issue with Navigator's Club as there was a big party seated behind us and the children kept running between the tables and running their grubby hands across our backrests. Imbeciles!
For dinner at the Pixar Market Restaurant we had a papaya salad and shrimp summer roll from the appetizer menu as the entrees were not all that appealing once again. Usually only one or two of the accompaniments sound interesting from a dish. It would be nice to be able to mix and match. On previous cruises we have been able to ask for the sauce or mash from another main course to be brought out as a side dish. On this cruise there were some issues with that as one of the butlers asked for a cup of the parsnip mash but received a small cup of parsnip crisps instead. Sometimes the bread service would not match the description on the menu. As we had our server and manager hunt down some bread rolls for us, we found out that the bread had run out during the first service. Mjau! They were able to find the bread from one of the other restaurants. Back to Pixar Market Restaurant. As dessert we had the bread pudding. How can anyone resist bread pudding!? We also got the lemon tart. Are they running out of berries? Our tart was decorated with a blueberry and a raspberry cut in half. We suspect our pitiful butler managed to get food poisoning again. We suspect the shrimps in the summer roll! Mjau! We are still traumatized from a previous Disney Cruise where our butler turned into a two headed dragon after eating a tuna steak or a deconstructed carrot cake. Because of them we were not able to go to the Cayman Islands! Mjau! Fortunately this bout of food poisoning was only a slight upset stomach and not an entire theatrical production like previously. We were still able to eat as normal.
The dinner at Animator's Palate was fun as we got to draw characters that were later shown in a musical animated show on the screens in the restaurant. We drew a feverish Au as we only had green and purple markers at our table. For dinner we had the steamed pork bun (not dry like at the buffet!), duck salad (dry!) and truffle scallop risotto. As dessert we had a chocolate mousse dessert and a sugarless cappuccino mousse with supposedly a raspberry coulis (it was cut up strawberries on the side!) The items not matching the description on the menu was a recurring theme.
As we only had days at sea, all the arts and crafts and trivia shows got quite crowded. We still went to some adults only arts and crafts at the D-Lounge. We made our own cup holders, suncatchers and magnets. Most crafts were just to color with markers. Mjau, always such long lines to the markers. They should really come up with a better system! For one of the crafts we just ended up asking the table next to us if they wanted to switch markers so we did not have to line up for the markers again. They were excited to switch, as they were probably fed up with the line as well and too shy to ask for markers themselves. The magnets were the most fun to do and we hung them on our cabin door as decorations. The suncatcher was also nice but we had nowhere to hang them. The cup holders were a nice idea but the markers leaked/spread out on the surface so the pictures we drew turned quite blotchy! Our favourite arts and crafts on a Disney Cruise are still the home made pins and travel diary.
After four magical nights on the Disney Cruise Line Adventure it was time for us to return to shore. Mjau! We do not want to leave Disney! Why cannot the cruise ship take us to Hong Kong Disneyland. We know that they have a ship port there! We decided to go with our sisters and their butler instead of our butler as we did not want to spend the night at Kuala Lumpur Airport like beggars. They had a hotel in Hong Kong booked. We were then able to visit Disneyland immediately come morrow. Our butler arrived in the afternoon with the Leebits. As the room was not ready at check in they let us check out one hour later instead. Purrfect! We can just stay in and watch a movie on Disney Plus. While staying at a Disney hotel in Hong Kong Disneyland they offer free Disney Plus memberships. We wish this was the case in all Disney hotels and cruise ships.
Mjau, they had Duffy and Friends Plush Photo spots all across the park. They were miniature versions of the ride vehicles. The perfect size for plushies to sit in and take photos. How lovely! There were no new snacks so we just got our favourites again. We usually get banana bread from Starbucks and save it for breakfast for the following morning. We also tried the teriyaki chicken burrito. Delicious! We wanted to try the salmon one but they were all out of them as it was the evening. Mjau, although it is slightly inconvenient when snacks run out during the evenings at Hong Kong Disneyland, we appreciate that they do not make a surplus of food that then goes to waste.
We went to the Grand Salon for cocktails during the day to escape the heat. Their espresso martinis so delicious. We also tried their lychee and strawberry martini. Mjauhihi, a couple in a neighbouring table spilled their cocktail, so they soaked it up with their napkin and squeezed it back into their cocktail glass. Mjau! Our butler would have probably tried licking it up from the table. We also got the dessert platter again as the afternoon tea set had several dishes we were not interested in. We also decided that we would not be joining our butler to Australia. Mjau, they already took us to Tokyo Disneyland so they have no leverage over us any more. We do not want to stay in Australia for a year, most likely working somewhere rural or remote, while our sisters go to Disneyland without us. If our butler decides to live somewhere closer to Disneyland or take more luxurious trips (not cockroach infested hostel stays weeks on end!) we will return to them.
Now they need to work hard to earn money to support our lifestyle, as us siamese kittens have quite the expensive taste.
