Disney's Yacht Club Resort

The Exterior of the Yacht Club Resort, taken from the beach, mjau.
Mau, we finally got to try the Yacht Club at Walt Disney World. One of the most appealing things with the resort is the location. It is within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk is right across the resort.
Mjau, enjoying a stroll on the Boardwalk.
Epcot is closer and it takes around ten minutes to walk to the Epcot's International Gateway. The entrance will lead you right to the World Showcase between France and England. You can just walk in and grab a quick snack from one of the booths without having to walk through the entire Epcot. The Hollywood Studios is around 20 minutes away by foot. Not as convenient as Epcot, but if it is not too hot outside it is a nice walk. You can also take a boat to both parks, but as the boat will also stop at the Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin it can be faster to just walk. However it is much nicer to take the boat when it is hot and feeling the wind in our whiskers! Going to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom the only option is going by bus.
The view from our balcony.

The view from our balcony at night time. You can see the lights at Boardwalk, mjau!
The Yacht Club Resort draws inspiration from New England architecture and has a nautical theme. The nautical theme can best be seen in the lobby, especially the cast member costumes. Mjau, they were dressed as Donald Duck. We wanted to take a photo, but our Butler insisted that we can not take pictures of strangers, mjau!

Our room was on the third floor with a view of the lake and the Boardwalk across the lake. Mau, it was really cozy to just sit on the balcony in the warm Florida weather and enjoying the view, especially during the evening. The rooms are really nice, although they are not really Disney themed. We would have preferred it if they had some subtle Disney decorations in the room, mjau.

Our room at the Yacht Club Resort. Missing the Disney charm, mjau.
One of the reasons we were so exited to stay in the Yacht Club is the dining. The Captain's Grille has one of the best, if not the best, breakfast buffet available. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed and in the alternative location at the resort the buffet was not available. Mjau, sad. Fortunately we could still get the salmon pastrami from the restaurant.
Mjau, the wonderful Fudge Mud Slide. Grandpa could drown in it!
Another dining experience we were really looking forward to was the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop that is between the Yacht and Beach Club resorts. We love the 50s themed interior and music. We love the ice cream even more, mjau! You can also get burgers and sandwiches and more, but we opted for the Fudge Mud Slide. You get a brownie covered in delicious fudge and three scoops of ice cream and oreos, with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Mjau, so delicious but you have to eat fast as it melts fairly quickly due to the Florida weather.
The panini at The Market at Ale & Compass, delicious, mjau!
The Market at Ale & Compass is also really good. You can find delicious pastries and bagels for breakfast or an evening snack. Really convenient to grab a scone in the morning and go eat on the balcony or by the beach. We also tried one of the warm paninis on our last day before the bus. Mjau, delicious and spicy. We also saw they served dinner, but we never tried the dinner.

Delicious Mickey Brownie!
The Yacht Club shares the same pool area with the Beach Club Resort as they are right next to each other. The pool is really nice with sand on the bottom so you can pretend to be in the ocean. It is so tempting to go swimming in the lake by the resort, but small kittens like us have to be careful so the alligators do not make dinner out of us. We are so sweet they would not be able to resist, mjau!
One evening our butlers went to the whirlpool to relax before taking us to dinner to the Flying Fish at Boardwalk. They said it was really relaxing and cozy to sit in the whirlpool while it was dark outside.  You have to press a button for the bubbles to start. Hihi, when there were other people in the pool the bubbles stopped so they just sat in a tub of water with strangers, our poor butlers!

Sunbathing at the pool with baby Figment.
The beach was really nice and there are usually not a lot of people there so you have quite a lot of privacy. That is why it was such a good location for our wedding. Mjau, although the sand got stuck in our beautiful fur, mjau.

The beautiful beach at our resort. You can see the Swan and Dolphin resort in background.
The Yacht Club is one of our favourite resorts we have stayed at in Walt Disney World. The Grand Floridian is slightly better due to the small Disney details in the room. We also really liked staying in a different building than in the lobby. At the Yacht Club we always had to go through the lobby to go outside, embarrassing for us when our butlers and other guests walked around in swimsuits and towels. The one other downside to staying in the Yacht Club resort, or in Beach Club, is the Swan and Dolphin Resort. Mjau, you can see the building and the sculpture of the fallen fish from anywhere. It really does not fit in with the theme of the other resorts around the Boardwalk and is quite frankly an eyesore.

Tokyo Disney Resort 2023 May

Our butler had never visited Tokyo Disneyland before so we decided to drag our butler out of their cave and generously treat them to a week ...
